Johnny Manziel may have one eye on an alternate career after losing the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback job to Brian Hoyer—if his latest candy advertisement is taken seriously. Nah, not really, but you've got to hand it to the guy; he keeps his eyes on the prize. As "Johnny Football" suggests with his signature "money gesture," it's all about the Benjamins, and we suspect that his latest turn as aerobics instructor "Johnny JamBoogie" in a new Snickers commercial will do his coffers no harm at all.
The ad, which carries the tagline, "You're not you when you're hungry," features the peckish rookie quarterback morphed into Johnny JamBoogie, an enthusiastic albeit somewhat confused aerobics instructor. JamBoogie's got some game, and he manages to inspire his class with utterances such as "Who's got a pelvis?" and "Now do some of those arm circle things" and "Add a little Jazz to it." In fairness, Manziel deserves a hat-tip for throwing himself into the role.
JamBoogie is starting to get a little befuddled until a large player called "Sandler" enters the fray and sets him straight with a Snickers. Phew, we thought you were gone for a second, Johnny, but by the time the ad ends Johnny JamBoogie is gone and Johnny I-am-starting-the-season-on the-sideline (sorry, Johnny Football) is back.
