Time to rev up the bikes, gentlemen. On October 4th, The Red Bull Straight Rhythm Auto Club Raceway will be in Pomona, CA.
As announced earlier this spring, the supercross event is a new competition style; an “unwound” track–no turns, just a ½ mile-long straight rhythm section. 32 riders will be competing against each other in a head-to-head, best-of-three bracket format. The riders must focus on the “rhythm” of the track and read the terrain directly in front of them for accurate control and distance.
Auto Club Raceway at Pomona is the oldest and most well-known on the NHRA drag racing series circuit. It was built in 1951 as a way to encourage street racers to compete safely, and it can accommodate up to 40,000 fans in its permanent grandstand seats.
Last year, the proof-of-concept featured riders James Stewart, Ryan Dungey, Marvin Musquin, Malcolm Stewart, Cole Seely, Justin Bogle and Jessy Nelson riding the unique course in a non-competitive format. This new innovation to supercross has become a reality, and ticketing is now available.
