Skateboarding brands are moving into the lifestyle space in a big way, and labels that once prided themselves on specializing in shoes, decks, or wheels are quickly fanning out into new categories. A shining example of this is Volcom. (Other honorable mentions: Element, Vans.) To be fair, Volcom has been branching out since it was founded over two decades ago (it became the first action sports brand to launch a record label—Volcom Entertainment—in 1995). Twenty years later, the clothing label that was conceived on the powdery slopes of Tahoe is expanding faster than ever—most notably into the footwear arena. Just over a year after releasing its first shoe, Volcom has rolled out a new Holiday collection that includes everything from patterned slip-ons to robust hiking boots and even a few biz casual options for the office.
