The cable woodchop is an important compound exercise—and one you'll likely see often in upper-body workouts—that primarily targets the abdominals, but the shoulders somewhat, as well. 

The cable machine you'll need to use for this move may seem easy enough to approach, but lack of proper technique and care for safety can easily lead to injury.
